a Rescue Dog

Getting to hand-deliver commissioned paintings is one of the best things about being an artist. It’s also nerve wracking. This painting was no exception. A gift for my friend’s mother, I got to be there when they both saw the painting for the first time. Self doubt creeps in — did I capture the likeness? Will it go with her décor? Did I mess up one of the dog’s spots? But that thank-you with tear-filled eyes puts all fears to rest. It’s such a privilege to get to do what I do.
