This mob of McNabs lives for chasing cows. Along for the ride to go replace a water trough I’m sure they were anticipating a hunt. The old truck, trough, and mass of black dogs (which was just black black in the photo) was too mouthwatering not to paint. This series of paintings was really about honing my technique and exploring the use of white space. While this painting was exhibited at the 2011 Red Bluff Bull & Gelding sale, it did not sell much to my delight. It was my favorite and I’ve been hanging on to it ever since.
