About Jessica

Jessica Kong is an award-winning watercolor artist based in California,

Jessica Kong’s art explores the deep, symbiotic relationship between landscapes, livestock, wildlife, and the people who steward them. A former wrangler, colt rider, loper, and lifelong advocate for ranching and the land, her paintings are rooted in lived experience: the dust of the arena, the intensity of a cowdog, the vastness of sky over a working ranch, the unspoken understanding between horse and rider.

Agriculture & Ranching Advocacy

For several years she served as Communications Director for California Rangeland Trust—the state’s largest land trust—where she advocated for working landscapes. Her role was to communicate the real ecosystem services provided by large-animal grazing, and her writing on these topics was published in California Cattleman magazine. She also designed and led ranch tours for inner-city children, giving them their first up-close experience of where food comes from and how people care for the land across generations. She was honored to be invited as a guest lecturer for an agricultural education class at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and as a judge for the Poly Royal Rodeo Queen contest.
