I liked the way King of the Road turned out so well I decided to try the concept of painting wildlife inside a silhouette again. While combing through my archives looking for old photos, I came across a picture I’d taken while hiking the Highline Trail at Glacier National Park when I was teenager. We had surprised a small herd of Bighorn Sheep and I managed to capture one of them on camera before they took off and disappeared over the nearest ridge. This was in the pre-digital era so all I had to work with was a tiny speck of a sheep on a 4×6 glossy photo. Nevertheless, the latent action of the sheep, poised and ready to run, captivated me. Flight Risk is the result.
