the bird series

Riding the bike trail in late March, hours before my birthday party, I had just turned to head back to my parent’s house when a red tailed hawk swooped right in front of me at eye level. It was such a breathtakingly fleeting moment that I knew I had to put it one paper. I don’t know if the hawk caught anything, but the ground squirrels were out en force and I could just imagine the predator lifting off grasping one unlucky squirrel in its talons. We miss 100% of the chances we don’t take in life, and like this hawk, we need to pursue our prey like our lives depend on it.
